Using an NFN mailbox with a High Speed Connection

Many of our Naples Free-Net users use a High Speed connection and wish to retain their NFN account and their e-mail address.  The following changes are necessary in their E-mail program settings to allow this.

IF you use the NFN DSL service (http://dsl.naples.net ), your mail settings are exactly the same as Dial Up settings, ie:

SMTP =    mail.naples.net

POP=       mail.naples.net

and your username and password regarding all email is simply your NFN UserName and your NFN account password.   If your NFN email address is of the form   somename@naples.net , then your NFN UserName is   someone .

Outlook and Outlook Express

Tools/Accounts, highlight NFN account/click Properties/Servers

Make sure their POP setting is “mail.naples.net” and their outgoing mail (SMTP) setting is set to the address of  the high speed service they are using. i.e.

Comcast= smtp.comcast.net

Road Runner= smtp-server.swfla.rr.com

Embarq= smtp-embarqmail.com

NFN DSL= mail.naples.net

Click “Apply” before exiting to save.

Also….In Tools/Accounts/Properties/Connection Tab, make sure “Always connect to this account using” is checked AND that “Local Area Network” is selected in the white box.

In Mozilla 1.6

If you are using Mozilla you probably know how to set up multiple incoming accounts

You can have several incoming mail servers - one for each account - but only one outgoing (SMTP)

Under Edit open Mail and Newsgroup Account Settings

Click on Outgoing Server (SMTP) and set the Outgoing Server to

Comcast= smtp.comcast.net

Road Runner= smtp-server.swfla.rr.com

NFN DSL= mail.naples.net

Check the box use name and password and enter your User Name for your:

Comcast account, OR, Road Runner account, OR, NFN DSL account (your NFN account user ID )

Click OK

In Eudora 6.0 or higher

Under Tools select Sending Mail

Click on Sending Mail and in the SMTP server box enter

Comcast= smtp.comcast.net

Road Runner= smtp-server.swfla.rr.com

NFN DSL= mail.naples.net

Click OK
