Query: How do I get rid of a virus?

The following is sent FYI - some of you may get involved with the virus clean-up.  Without a doubt you will run into situations where certain files are so badly damaged as to be unusable and need replacing.  One way is to copy the file from an operating system that is known to be "clean" and of the same type and version.  The best, and recommended way is to extract it from the original installation CD.  The link below will tell them how to do this.

This is from the Microsoft Knowledge Base located at:  http://search.support.microsoft.com/kb/c.asp?SD=SO&LN=EN-US  - Article Q129605 - The KB is perhaps the most under utilized 9of any information system for people that do tech support.

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows 95
  • Microsoft Windows 98
  • Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 4.0, 4.01 for Windows 95
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 4.0, 4.01 for Windows NT 4.0
  • Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition
