NFN Helpteam Guide to User Problems |
||
This guide collects answers developed by helpteam members to many NFN user questions. |
Query: User told me
that he kept getting an error message that something was wrong with his
ISDN setup (I don't recall the exact message) I told him "NO WAY". I just verified this with Jerry. Our CD does not attempt
to set-up
an ISDN connection. Would be kind
of strange if it did since we don't use
ISDN! Actually, we do
provide ISDN service ever since the
portmaster 3's were installed. However, we're not announcing it as a
service, and therefore the helpteam is not
expected to support it. Technically, we only
permit users to make an ISDN connection from a single 64Kbps "B" channel. If
they try to connect with both B channels (128Kbps), our software sees a
"simultaneous login" and boots one of the channels off immediately. Since our multi-login
software communicates with me directly, I can detect an ISDN user who is
having trouble and contact them about correcting the problem. I've only
logged one ISDN user so far. Once he determined how to limit the connection
to one channel, everything has worked great. So, bottom line - if a
user asks an ISDN question, your reply should be "ISDN on a single B
channel is possible, but unsupported".
