7.7 Year 2000 Policy

7.7.1 Purpose: To be Year 2000 compliant by December 31, 1999.

7.7.2 Definition: Compliance is defined as information technology which will accurately process date and time data.


7.7.3 To be able to demonstrate in writing, if requested, that NFN has a plan for compliance.

7.7.4 To demand from its external contractors and third party service providers written proof or letter of intent where necessary, that they will be Year 2000 compliant prior to December 31, 1999. This may include proof of an audit and testing of their system or equipment.

7.7.5 That a clause may be inserted in all purchase orders warranting that the software, peripheral or computer supplied will not have Year 2000 problems.

7.7.6 That suppliers, clients, vendors, or companies presently contracting with NFN and unable or unwilling to provide this documentation will have their contract tagged for non-renewal.

7.7.7 That new purchases of software, peripherals, and computers from companies who can demonstrate that their product is Year 2000 compliant will be preferred unless specifically exempted.
