Create A Web Site
with the NFN Webpage Storyboard Application

Provide the NFN Webpage Storyboard Master Administrator with the following:

    1. Web Site Name (i.e., xyz Non Profit Organization)
    2. Web Site Administration ID (i.e., anemail@naples.net)
    3. Web Site Administration Password (i.e., mypassword)
  • Via any modern browser (Netscape or IE) log on to you website as the Administrator.  Microsoft IE version 4 or 5 allows greatly enhanced WYSIWYG editing capablility, so, if possible, try to use this type of browser to edit your site.
  • Following the login, select from the succeeding page the ‘Do It’ button labeled:

'Go Directly to this Web Storyboard Preview Page:'

  • The very basic web page will appear in what is called ‘Preview Page’ mode. This screen accurately reflects what the ‘Live Page’ view looks like, but has an additional border around the page that contains clickable links that will take one to the section of the page for editing. You initially will be in the Basic Mode which is adequate to allow the basic individual pages to be constructed.  The Advanced Mode allows many more detailed editing features and can be turned on and off by the Mode button at the top of the Preview Page.

Important: In the Advanced Mode The 'Preview Page' web page is divided up into a Global, Header, Body, Footer, and Link Bar areas. Global settings apply to the whole site. Once the Header and Footer sections are built, they will appear on every site webpage. Only the Body section is totally unique to every web page. The Link Bar areas (both at the page left and page bottom) are automatically built according to the site’s number of pages.

    • (Advanced Mode) Set the Global Settings: Many settings are available here to help provide a consistent look to the web site. These include background color, background picture, color selection editing, style, etc. For now, let the default settings remain as these changes, like all the web site adjustments available, can be made at anytime.
    • (Advanced Mode) Set the Header Settings: Settings made here will appear in every web site page, so logically one would want to include a meaningful site name and font size and color. A picture (such as an organization logo) can be included and positioned relative to the wording. Simply enter the information, click on the ‘Insert Heading Data’ button and the Preview page will appear with the selected changes showing. Repeat the process back and forth until the Preview page viewing shows what is desired as a heading.
    • (Advanced Mode) Set the Footer Settings: Follow the same procedure here as in the ‘Heading Settings’ detailed above. Any text entered in this area will appear on every web page also, just as in the Heading. Generally, a smaller font with general information, such as copyright, telephone, etc. about the web site is included here.

  • Set the Body Settings: This is the part of the web site that is unique to every page. Every Body Section built will cause an entry of that body page to appear in the navigation link bar on the left of the web pages and at the bottom of each web page. The name given to the Body Section page will appear in the listing of the navigation link bar, so it should be something short, but descriptive of the content of that particular body page (this name is entered in the Body Section Edit page in a box titled: ‘Storyboard Page Name’). Again, following the same general procedure as in the Header and Footer sections, enter the page text with font display settings as desired. Of course, adjustments/edits to each page can be made at anytime. If using an IE browser for editing, an ActiveX WYSIWYG window is shown which allows very powerful drag and drop ability as well as many right click window area options. Once site pages have been created it is a simple matter to bump the left menu listing order of those pages so that an individual page is moved up or down in the list order.

  • A WEB SITE HAS BEEN CREATED! At the top of the Preview Page is a link labeled ‘Live Site View’ which when clicked on will show the web site page as it really appears on the NFN Web server for the world to see. At the bottom of every ‘live’ page is a small link ‘adm ed’, which will take the administrator to the Preview Page of that exact page (assuming you are logged in). Edits can be done as described above and will immediately appear in the live page views to the public. Once a web site has been constructed, maintenance is as simple as going to the particular web page, clicking on the ‘adm ed’ link, logging in, and making changes! A big plus in using the NFN Webpage Storyboard system is that edits can be made with nothing more than the use of a browser and an Internet connection.
