|Who is the Voice of the Faithful of Southwest Florida? |
The VOTF of SWFL is a non-profit organization, founded in September of 2002 by concerned lay Catholics in Naples, FL as a local response to the sexual abuse crisis in our church. VOTF of SWFL is an affiliate of the original and national VOTF in the Boston area. VOTF of SWFL's prayerful goal is to encourage the laity of our diocese to speak the truth in love, from one's perspective and reflection, respectfully and forthrightly.

building bridges to restore the trust between the laity and the hierarchy. We, the laity, are committed to working within our diocese to establish a reciprocal long term working relationship with our hierarchy.
Our specific area of concentration is the bureaucracy or management of the temporal affairs of our church. The realization of this goal will occur when we, the laity, are given "our place at the table." Lay participation in the dialogue and the decision making process of the temporal affairs of the church is sanctioned in both the revised 1983 edition of Canon Law and the post Vatican II dogmatic constitution, Lumen Gentium.
