Family History Centers Closed We received an announcement from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints that the Family History Center in Golden Gate closed permanently on December 23, 2009, and the FHC in Fort Myers closed permanently on December 31, 2009.

LINK ADDED TO LIBRARY GENEALOGY PAGE Collier County library card holders can access America's Newspapers (NewsBank) and search major metros to small town newspapers, most from 1990's to present, fully indexed and searchable. A great source for recent obituaries including the Naples Daily News (12/08/1995-current). You can CLICK HEREto visit the Library's Newsbank sign-in page. Enter your library card number when prompted for barcode.
Library Genealogy Room Volunteer Schedule Help is here! Visit the Genealogy Room at the Naples Regional Library 650 Central Avenue, located on the west side of the building in the reference area. CLICK HERE for the current schedule of when Genealogical Society Volunteers will be on duty to offer their assistance with the collection and databases. Note: Volunteers may be on vacation at various times during the summer. You can call the reference desk at 263-7768 to see if a volunteer is on duty.
Family History Books Index Project The Family History Books Index has been completed and is now available online. Thanks to the diligent work of GSCC member John McConnell, you can now do a surname search of all the Family History Books located in the Genealogy Room at the Naples Regional Library, 650 Central Avenue. Fort Myers-Lee County Library Genealogy Collection Bryan Mulcahy, Reference Librarian of the Fort Myers-Lee County Library has sent us a copy of the library's Genealogy Department Shelf List. Incorporation and Non-Profit Status On June 18, 2007 the Genealogical Society of Collier County filed articles of incorporation with the State of Florida as a non-profit corporation, and we are now the Genealogical Society of Collier County, Inc. We are also a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit tax-exempt organization.
LIBRARY NEWS GENEALOGY ROOM - New England Historic Genealogical Society's database is available on the computers in the Genealogy Room.
