Welcome to the Year of the Black Horse
Chinese New Year starts with the New Moon on the first day of the new year and ends on the full moon 15 days later. The 15th day of the new year is called the Lantern Festival, which is celebrated at night with lantern displays and children carrying lanterns in a parade.

Evaluation
Conclusion Awareness of the celebrations by other cultures reflects the concept of diversity. Do you feel that having more than one calendar is confusing? Support your answer. If you had the opportunity to rename the years for the Chinese, what names would you give them and why? Which of the many New Year's traditions kept by the Chinese do you feel will be celebrated 100 years from now? Explain. Name some of the contributions that Shirley Temple Wong could bring to our class. Explain.
